there are no facts
stories are primary

we mistake religious books as god trying
to reveal his nature
as if that were remotely possible.
god is permanently, infinitely ineffable.
he does not dabble in facts
his currency is stories—
elucidation through what man can understand:
drama.
try starting the sentence
“once upon a time”
to a 4 year old
and watch her eyes light up
like a dog’s when you say “walk”

all is story
there are no facts
man is pulled towards higher ideals
not through fact and law
but through parable, allegory, poem, soliloquy,
and play.
for you see god is a playwright
his stage the universe
his actors the best of man.
it is no matter of contradiction
for shakespeare to write of hamlet in one story
and othello in another
for the point of a play is for a person
to be one way before experiencing it
and another way after.

god’s dramas are unmatched in production
angels, fires, resurrections, demons, and caves
the stories of moses, jesus, paul, muhammad
and even smith
are some of the best in literature

so when you pick up a bible
or quran
or the book of mormon
‘tis not to be read as a book of truth claims
but a play
composed by god
acted in the flesh
emblazoned in the mind.

contradiction isn’t flaw.
what need,
does christopher nolan have,
to make tenet and interstellar
compatible with one another?
they are different stories
for a different audience
at a different time

all is a play
it’s of no use trying to zoom in
and pick apart the scenes
like trying to zoom in on a TV image—
all you’ll get are meaningless pixels.
stories,
like all art,
are wholes,
and cannot be sold for parts.

all is theater.
god is a playwright
the actors are performing his story

they all point up.

skip the credits
immerse in the stories
and see
where they can take you.
